New PWD Process for Scheduling Water Connections

PWD has developed a new and more transparent process for scheduling new water connections in response to a general misconception that when a connection permit is issued, the connection is automatically placed in the queue for installation. Purchasing a new water connection permit does not initiate the scheduling process!

Effective July 1, applicants must submit the New Water Connection Request Form when ready for installation to pwd_water_connections@phila.gov, along with an approved Utility Plan and/or Water Connection Permit. Click here to learn more and download the flyer.

Clerical staff from the distribution unit will monitor this inbox and will enter the information as notes into the specific work order that was created when the permit was issued. Applicants will receive a confirmation receipt with a work order number, as well as the name, email address, and cell phone number of the district supervisor. The supervisor is aware of the service priorities in the district, the current schedule, and emergencies that arise and will be the first point of contact when following up on the status of the connection. PWD is working toward a 4 to 6-week delivery time from the email request.
